A woman came out naked on the red carpet at the Cannes Film Festival to protest against sexual violence in Ukraine. She took off her dress to reveal her body painted in the colors of the Ukrainian flag with the words: "Do not rape us"! Dressed in red-colored underwear, the protester shouted and posed for the photographers before leaving the security guards.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said last month that investigators had received reports of "hundreds of rape cases" in areas previously occupied by Russian troops, including sexual assaults on young children.
Zelensky appeared in a video link to the opening ceremony of the Cannes Film Festival on Tuesday, calling for help for his country.
The war has already been a major theme at the festival, with a special screening Thursday of "Mariupolis 2", a documentary by Lithuanian director Mantas Kvedaravicius, who was killed in Ukraine last month by Russian forces.
