Lodhje
Vështirësi në ecje
Vision problems such as blurred vision
Problems with bladder control
Numbness or tingling sensation in various parts of the body
Spasms and cramps or muscle stiffness
Problems with balance and orientation
Problems with thinking, learning and planning
Depending on the type of Multiple Sclerosis that the individual has, the symptoms may appear and go away in different stages, but may also worsen continuously.
Types of Multiple Sclerosis
Multiple sclerosis can start in 1 or 2 ways: with individual recurrence (with attack, or with worsening) or with gradual progression.
What are the causes of Multiple Sclerosis
Multiple sclerosis is an autoimmune disease, where the immune system attacks the nervous system and mainly the layer which envelops and protects the nerves (myelin). It is unclear which factor influences the immune system to attack the nervous system, but most experts think a combination of genetic and environmental factors may be involved.
Treatment of Multiple Sclerosis
There is currently no cure for MS, but some treatments can help control the health condition. The treatment a patient needs depends on the specific symptoms and the difficulties he has.
Treatment may include:
Specific treatments for individual symptoms of MS.
Treat recurrent cases with steroid medication to speed recovery.
Treatment to reduce the number of recurrent episodes using medications called disease modification therapy.
Disease-modifying therapies may also help to reduce or slow the overall worsening of disability in patients with recurrent SM or progressive secondary SM who develop recurrent episodes. There is currently no medication that can reduce or slow the progression of primary progressive MS or progressive secondary SM when recurrent episodes are absent.
Living with Multiple Sclerosis
If you are diagnosed with MS, it is important to take care of your general health. Living with MS is a big challenge, but new treatments over the last 20 years have significantly improved the quality of life in patients diagnosed with MS. Multiple sclerosis is very rarely fatal for life.
