Nick Jonas talked about his new perspective on fatherhood as he and Priyanka Chopra welcomed their daughter Malti to life. Starting the parenting experience was not easy because their daughter spent over 100 days in intensive care after giving birth.
Speaking to Variety on Wednesday, Nick spoke briefly about the mass shooting at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas, saying things feel "more intense" now that he is a father.
"The weight of everything is much more intense," he told the newspaper. "I think now it has to do with trying to be as present and as thoughtful as possible about family, but also about other people's travels. "I am very grateful for [Malti Marie] and the wonderful prospect of being a parent," he added.
After the news of the horrific massacre came to light, Jonas shared on Twitter a link with a group called Moms Demand Action that works to end gun violence.
"As a father, as an uncle, I can not help but think of children and all the lives lost," he told Variety. "I hope change happens and we will see the end of this."
Nick and Priyanka became parents for the first time in January this year.
