Trouble seems to have just begun for Barcelona defender Gerard Pique, who reportedly will not have a contract renewal at the famous Spanish club. Despite missing the end of the season due to injury, following the news of the split with Shakira, it looks like Pique will face other challenges.
The center-back was a key player for Barcelona in the 2021-2022 season, with 39 appearances in all competitions, but left earlier due to the injury he suffered.
Mundo Deportivo reports that Pique is currently aiming to see the current contract, which expires in 2024, after which he is considering hanging up his shoes.
Pique has said before that he would retire the moment he thinks he can no longer help Barça, but for now he is convinced he can leave behind injury problems.
The 35-year-old has all summer to rest, but it seems clear he is heading towards the end of his 'Camp Nou' career.
Barça also have Ronald Araujo, Eric Garcia and Andreas Christensen for next season, but are expected to sack Samuel Umtiti, Oscar Mingueza and Clement Lenglet.
It has also been rumored that Xavi wants Barça to sign a powerful center-back like Jules Kounde or Kalidou Koulibaly.
