Whether she's wearing sportswear, Dolce & Gabbana or Alessandra Rich, Kate Middleton always turns heads at Wimbledon. Most of the Duchess of Cambridge's tennis match outfits are paired with sparkling jewelry, but she almost always adds another accessory: a small purple and green ribbon pinned above her heart.
But what does the ribbon represent and when did Kate start wearing it?
If you're part of the All England Tennis and Croquet Club (AELTC) - where the Duchess of Cambridge is - you can wear the pin. Otherwise, no.
The AELTC has only 375 members and competition for admission is fierce; has a waiting list of more than 1,000 people, according to Forbes.
Middleton first wore her pin after receiving the AELTC's patronage from the Queen in 2016.
Formed into a ribbon, the strip features the private club's official colors of Wimbledon purple and Wimbledon green.
Kate's first appearance at Wimbledon with the pin was on July 16, 2017, when she wore a floral Catherine Walker dress.
Since 2017, the duchess has always worn her pin at Wimbledon - except for the women's final, which she attended in 2018 with Meghan Markle. For the event, Middleton wore a Jenny Packham dress with a tennis ball-inspired print and the style featured a ribbon on the left side, where she would normally fasten her AELTC armband.
While the last time Kate was seen wearing the pin was last week at the Wimbledon men's quarter-finals, when the duchess paired the pin with an Alessandra Rich polka dot dress.
