Meet Potato, the adorable earless cat with thousands of Instagram followers

This is Potato the cat, who had to have his ears removed due to a tumor. Potato lived as a stray cat with a few other street cats. Potato was later taken into the home of an elderly woman from Hong Kong, but she sadly died in 2016. A local cat shelter then took care of her.

Meanwhile, in 2018, a couple decided to adopt him. Unfortunately, ceruminous adenoma, an ear tumor that can cause pain and hearing loss if left untreated, was found in the cat's ear. After some consultation, the vets told the owners that the cat had to undergo surgery to remove the ears to prevent the tumor from spreading.

"His hearing is less sensitive than before, like what we hear when we cover our ears with our hands. But luckily he is still very responsive and no obvious side effects have occurred. As a street cat, his personality was like a gangster in the past, but in fact, he is very adorable. He was shy at first, but after he adapted, he became very playful and interactive," said the cat's owner.
