Yolanda Hadid returned to Instagram on Sunday after a 9-month hiatus. The mother of models Gigi and Bella Hadid told fans she took some much-needed time off to "reevaluate" her life following the death of her mother, Ans van den Herik.

"After losing my mom, I really struggled with depression followed by a relapse of Lyme disease...the emotional stress and grief took a toll on my immune system," the 58-year-old former model wrote in her post.

"My phone addiction didn't help either, it started taking so much time from being present in my life... I realized that we are slowly starting to lose the art of communication and it is creating a deep loneliness within us," she continued.

Yolanda described the past nine months as a "wonderful reset" and a time to "break the habit of picking up the phone 50 times a day."

"Learning to focus on myself, my health journey and being present in this moment in my life," she explained. "Time has slowed down and I feel much more relaxed, with more time to sit and read a book, time to reconnect with people, be creative and most importantly spend time with family mine. I'm excited to be back and see what you all have been up to.”
