Taylor Swift tried to keep a low profile as she stepped off a private jet last month - just weeks before she faced backlash for being named the celebrity with the biggest private jet carbon emissions.

Paparazzi caught the 32-year-old singer hiding behind an umbrella while landing at Hollywood Burbank Airport on July 5.

The photos resurfaced this week as Swift faces criticism over reports it has made 170 flights since January, causing more than 800 tonnes of carbon emissions.

The singer's face cannot be seen in the photo, but the Daily Mail identified her.

In the photo, the legs in a pair of jean shorts are the only body parts that are clearly visible.

Several Swift team members were also photographed disembarking from the same plane wearing face masks to protect against COVID-19.

Swift's rep recently denied that the Grammy winner used her private jets as often as analyst agency Yard claimed.

"Taylor's aircraft is regularly loaned out to other individuals," her spokesperson told BuzzFeed News on Monday. "To attribute most or all of these trips to her is completely wrong."

Swift's representatives did not immediately return a response to Page Six about why their client chose to cover her face after disembarking the July 5 flight.
