Like us non-royals, Kate and William use nicknames for each other. According to the Mirror, Kate Middleton has used a strange name for Prince William.
The tabloid reports that Kate used to call Prince William "Big Willy," but the newspaper points out that the duchess no longer uses the odd nickname for her husband.
Apparently, "Big Willy" dates back to the couple's college years. However, royal wedding guests enjoyed it when Prince Harry jokingly used the name for his brother during his wedding speech.
An insider told The Sun that the royals, in general, are not very good at communicating with each other and that "nicknames are a way to release family tension".
