Singer and actor Darius Campbell Danesh, known for ITV talent shows Popstars and 'Pop Idol', has died aged 41.
The Guardian writes that Danesh was found dead in Minnesota, USA, on August 11, but the cause of death remains unknown.
The news has also been confirmed by the family members: 'With great sadness we announce the death of Darius Campbell Danesh' , they said in a statement.
Darius was found dead in his bed in his Rochester, Minnesota, apartment on August 11 and was pronounced dead that afternoon by the local medical examiner's office.
The local police have confirmed that there were no suspicious signs during the examination. The causes of the sudden death are not yet known, while medical examinations are ongoing.
" We ask that you kindly respect our privacy at this time, while we come to terms with the tragic loss of our son and brother," the family's statement continued.
The singer-songwriter and actor was born in Glasgow to a Scottish mother and Iranian father. He made his famous debut on ITV's groundbreaking talent show Popstars in 2001 with a theatrical rendition of Britney Spears' 'Baby One More Time'. A year later, he appeared on 'Pop Idol', coming third behind Will Young and Gareth Gates, in a final watched by more than 13 million people.
There were immediate condolences for Danesh from well-known personalities, including singer and presenter Rylan Clark, who also became famous on 'X Factor'.
