Britney Spears is known as the Princess of Pop, but she could have been the Princess of Britain!
The singer once confessed that Prince William invited her to dinner while she was on tour in Britain. In an interview on a British talk show about 20 years ago, the American singer said she communicated with the prince by e-mail and invited him to visit her and maybe go out to eat. But the meeting never took place, she admitted during an interview on ITV1's Frank Skinner Show.
Skinner asked Britney, then 20, about her relationship with the prince and whether she had gotten close to him.
"Yeah, we exchanged e-mails for a while and he was supposed to come meet me somewhere, but it didn't work out," she said.
"You were kept waiting by Prince William?" asked Skinnier.
While Spears replied, "Yes."
Spears said she had no idea why William had changed his mind about the date, but British tabloid The Sun reported at the time that the prince had opted to go fox hunting instead.
Britney was at the height of her fame at that time, after the release of the songs "Baby One More Time" and "Oops! I did it again".
