Sarah Jessica Parker, who was honored at the 10th Annual Ballet Fall Fashion Gala in New York City on Wednesday night, had to pull out of the event at the last minute due to a family emergency.
A source who attended the gala told Page Six that moments after the actress arrived at the David H. Koch Theater at Lincoln Center, she left again. It was said that, in a strangely dramatic moment, they announced from the stage that she had to pull out of the event due to an "unexpectedly devastating family situation".
The "Sex and the City" actress is vice chair of NYCB's Board of Directors. She was also the brain behind the Fall Fashion Gala, which was celebrated for the first time in 2012.
Since then, the event has raised more than $24 million for the Ballet.
News of her last-minute withdrawal comes just a day after she attended the premiere of "Hocus Pocus 2" with her husband, Matthew Broderick.
Their 13-year-old twin daughters, Marion and Tabitha, also made a rare appearance on the red carpet as they accompanied their parents.
Parker and Broderick welcomed their daughters via surrogate in 2009 - seven years after their son, James, now 19, was born.
Broderick and Parker first met in 1991 and married two years later.
