The European song festival "Eurovision" next year will take place in the city of Liverpool in the United Kingdom.

It was the presenter Graham Norton, who initially confirmed it during an interview for "The One Show" this evening.

"The city that will host the 67th Eurovision Song Contest in 2023 is Liverpool," said Norton.

Now even the official website of the Eurovision Song Contest on Twitter has confirmed Liverpool as the destination of 2023.

Ukraine's Kalush Orchestra triumphed in the 2022 competition in Turin, Italy, but the European Broadcasting Union (EBU), which produces the annual event, ruled the show could not be safely held in the country following Russia's invasion.

The group said in a statement:

" We are very pleased that next year's Eurovision Song Contest will take place in Liverpool. Although we have not yet had the privilege of visiting, the city's musical heritage is known worldwide ."
