After the magnitude 7.7 and 7.6 earthquakes that occurred in Kahramanmara, eyes turned to the provinces where the Eastern Anatolian fault line passed.

After the earthquakes that occurred on the Eastern Anatolian fault line that caused destruction in 11 provinces, the research of the active fault line map in the earthquake regions gained momentum.

But where is the fault line of Eastern Anatolia and through which provinces does it pass?

While raising questions, Prof. Dr. Naci Görür warned about the critical earthquake of the Eastern Anatolian fault line in Adana. Turkey is located on the fault lines of North Anatolia, East Anatolia and West Anatolia.

Eastern Anatolia begins with the Mara triple junction? at the northern end of the Dead Sea rift and ends in a northeasterly direction at the triple junction of Karliova, where it joins the North Anatolian rift.

The East Anatolian fault line continues to Hatay, Osmaniye, Gaziantep, Kahramanmara, Adyaman, Elaz, Bingöl, Mu and then joins the North Anatolian fault line from Erzincan.

"We must also be careful in Adana and Cyprus. These warnings are based on the transfer of stress in the region. Likewise, we should be careful in the Malatya, Ovack and Nazimiye-Karakoçan rifts around Malatya for similar reasons. Therefore, it is useful for the authorities and our people to be careful", says Prof. Dr. Naci Görür.
