Enrique Iglesias has been forced to withdraw from the "Tecate Emblema" festival after health problems with pneumonia. The "Hero" hitmaker was due to close the first night of the two-day music festival in Mexico City on Saturday, but told fans he had been ordered to take 'rest' and was banned from flying.
In a statement shared in Spanish on his social media accounts, Enrique wrote:
Dear fans, it will be impossible for me to appear at tonight's show in Mexico. I have pneumonia and the doctors have advised me to rest and have banned me from boarding the plane.
The famous star vowed to return to Mexico 'soon'.
I am honestly sad to cancel this show in a place that has given me so much. I hope to recover quickly and be able to be with you all.
Organizers OCESA later confirmed that a host of artists would be taking over to fill Enrique's place. They join a project that also includes The Chainsmokers, Melanie C, One Republic, Belinda and Niki.
