A new scheme explains that within 10 minutes of the last bite of the giant burger, blood sugar rises to 'higher than normal levels' and calories give you a dreamy effect and feel like you're on top, before you collapse with a powerful thirst after half an hour.

The salt in a large hamburger (hamburgers in Britain have 2.3 grams of salt each) makes the kidneys work harder to excrete the salt and the heart has to beat faster to pump the blood. Your blood pressure will increase, and the news that no one comes by surprise is that if you eat too many hamburgers, you can have an attack.

By the time you reach the 40 minute mark, you've lost control of your blood sugar and have a spike in insulin and hunger.

After 1 hour your body is getting tired in the process of a slow digestion. It usually takes 24 to 72 hours to digest a meal, but hamburger being fattier than a normal meal, it takes longer.

Take it from home! Make your own hamburger!
