The medical team of the "Mother Teresa" University Hospital Center has performed a highly complex intervention on a child.
The child was diagnosed with a rare syndrome, "FHEIG Syndrome", the first case recorded in Albania.
The child enjoys full health and full nutrition and aesthetic function has been restored.
Prime Minister Edi Rama in a post on Facebook described the case as a 'success story', while thanking the doctors who performed the intervention.
"Success story! At QSUT, a highly complex intervention was carried out by the health personnel of the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Service, in a child diagnosed with a rare syndrome, FHEIG Syndrome, the first case recorded in Albania. Thanks to the expertise of our staff, the patient enjoys full health and full nutritional and aesthetic function has been restored. Thanks to the incredible team, to Dr. Arlind Myftarin, Dr. Sh. M. Bensar Shuteriqin, Dr. Alba Bimon as well as the nursing staff who assisted during the intervention" , Rama wrote in a post on Facebook.
The Minister of Health and Social Protection, Albana Koçiu, said that thanks to the expertise of the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Service, the child enjoys full health.
"At QSUT, an intervention of high complexity was carried out by the health personnel of the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Service, on a child diagnosed with a rare syndrome, FHEIG Syndrome, the first case recorded in Albania. Thanks to the expertise of our staff, the patient enjoys full health and has returned to full nutritional and aesthetic function," said the minister.
