The European Commission's DiscoverEU program has published a call for applications to win free train travel across Europe. Those selected will receive a free ticket for travel between July 1, 2024 and September 30, 2025, for a 30-day period.

Careful! Tuesday, April 30, 12:00 p.m. is the application deadline.

Even young people born between July 1, 2005 and June 30, 2006, with citizenship or residence in one of the member states of the European Union or in one of the third countries associated with the Erasmus+ program (Iceland, Liechtenstein, North Macedonia, Norway , Serbia and Turkey) are also eligible to apply.

What does the application contain?

Candidates will have to answer a six-question quiz on the European Youth Portal. Then, the commission will rank the candidates based on the answers.

Along with the free ticket, they will receive a European Youth Card which will give them access to discounted prices on cultural visits, educational activities, sports, transport, accommodation and food.

Participants can travel alone or in a group of up to 5 people. A group leader must be assigned to complete the application form and answer the quiz.

During the application, the group leader receives a code which he must transmit to the group members to allow them to register online and fill in their personal data.

The Commission launched DiscoverEU in June 2018 and then integrated it into the Erasmus+ 2021-2027 programme. Since 2018, 284,000 tickets have been distributed. The DiscoverEU experience enabled young people to better understand other cultures, European history and improve language skills.
