Reserved in public appearances and away from the media spotlight, Linda Rama chose the Euronews Albania microphone to share more of herself, not as the wife of the Prime Minister, but as an intellectual, mother, professional and active citizen. In a long conversation with journalist Alice Taylor-Brace, for the podcast “Inside Albania”, Linda Rama spoke about the challenges of everyday life, the role of women in society and their involvement in various fields such as education, entrepreneurship, social development, as well as the values that have guided her in silence, but which have had a great impact. Here are 5 of the most significant moments that remained in our minds from this story:

1. On the transition of the 1990s , Linda Rama spoke about her involvement in the privatization reform that began in the early years of the Albanian transition. She emphasized that, being part of the National Privatization Agency since 1993, she has met former political prisoners, former owners, workers, managers and early investors. The privatization of state property and the distribution of land, according to her, were the essential reforms that determined the course of investment, justice and social peace.

2. On expectations towards the West and reality , Linda Rama made it clear that, in the early 1990s, Albanians dreamed of the "Western world", but did not fully understand what freedom meant. She noted that the consequences of the communist regime's propaganda created a psychological interdependence and pressure on people's minds.

3. Regarding women and their role in society , Linda Rama emphasized that women in politics must act beyond representation: they must inspire. She underlined that women must have dignity, integrity and be prepared to compete, win or lose with democratic values. For her, every woman who becomes part of politics should not remain indebted to those who deserve this role, even if they have not been given the opportunity.

4. On technological challenges and the education of young people , Linda Rama noted the importance of continuous education and the role of the family in supervision. For her son, she uses technology for learning and not just for entertainment. Digital education and updating the curriculum in schools are priorities for a modern education system.

5. Regarding Albania's investments and economic potential , Linda Rama mentioned the country's progress in economic stability and the increase in foreign direct investments. She described the Information and Communication Technology sector as an important sector that already accounts for over 50% of exported services, and the potential of tourism as a future pillar for national development. The challenge remains the rule of law and the efficiency of institutions, especially the judiciary.
