Today is Eid al-Fitr. Albanian Muslim believers, as in the rest of the world, prayed, but in an unusual situation due to coronavirus pandemics. Despite this holy holiday for Muslims, the red areas are closed and no activity will be allowed. Believers cannot perform the prayer in the squares, as was the tradition, but in the mosque, under the health safety protocols.

Fiter Bajrami is the first celebration of this year in the Islamic calendar and after the morning prayer, the ritual continues with the cutting of the qurban continuing with the congratulations.

Meanwhile, family visits will be avoided due to the situation that is going on around the world.

Why is Fiter Bajrami celebrated?

Fiter Bajrami is the holiday, which takes place after the end of the month of Ramadan. The name Fiter Bajram comes from the fact that Muslims before the day of Eid distribute alms, show solidarity with the poor and thus, in this way, celebrate this holiday together.

God legislated at the end of the month of Ramadan the feast of Eid al-Fitr, a joy for Muslims, just as he legislated the feast of Eid al-Adha on the tenth day of the month of Dhul-Hijjah. The feast of Eid is manifested by praying the Eid prayer.

The Eid prayer is a must for every Muslim. Muhammad attached special importance to ordering Muslims to perform this prayer. The time of Eid prayer begins with the rising of the sun from the horizon as a spear, until it reaches the zenith.

The Eid prayer has two rak'ahs and differs from other prayers in the way of prayer. In the first rak'ah after the initial takbeer, seven takbeers are taken, then the surah Fatiha and some other surah are recited. After completing the ruku 'and prostrating on the first rak'ah, one rises to the second rak'ah and immediately takes five takbirs after which the Fatiha and a surah are recited, then one goes to the ruku' and prostration, and so the prayer ends.

Congratulations to all Muslim believers: Happy Eid al-Fitr!
