The United States has a price for 'remdesivir'.

Gilead Sciences, the company that makes the drug against Covid-19, announced in an open letter Monday morning that it has decided to set a price tag of $ 390 per bottle for the US government.

A five-day treatment would include six bottles, which would cost $ 2,340 per patient, said Daniel O'Day, chairman and CEO of Gilead Sciences, in the letter.

The letter added that the price for private companies in the US would be $ 520 per bottle, or $ 3,120 per patient for a five-day treatment course with six bottles.

On June 26, Remdesivir became the first COVID-19 drug to receive the EU recommendation.

The European Medicines Agency (EMA) has approved it for the treatment of patients affected by coronavirus infection, children over 12 years of age and adults who show symptoms of respiratory distress and need respirators.

Meanwhile, more than 30 drugs and vaccines are being tested worldwide against Covid-19.

According to the Italian Institute of Health, which performs periodic mapping and monitoring, 93% of studies are based on therapies and only 7% on prevention.

In May, the United States authorized the use of this antiviral, created until yesterday to fight Ebola.
