A balloon festival in Taiwan turned into a scary event for attendees when a 3-year-old girl got entangled in the tail of one of the giant balloons, flying high in the air.

The video of the crash, which is circulating widely on social media, shows some people preparing the big balloon for flight near a crowd of spectators. The balloon appears as it shakes from the strong wind. Then, the organizers released her and she flew, taking with her a child hanging from the tail. It is not clear how close the balloon was to the child on the ground, or how it was caught behind it.

Noises can be heard in the video as the child rises high in the air, shaking wildly from the balloons and the wind. The child stood in the air for about 30 seconds before the balloon approached the ground so that people could grab it and pick it up.

The girl was immediately taken to hospital with her mother and festival staff. Thankfully she suffered only a few minor injuries and scratches on her face and neck.

In a statement on Facebook, Hsinchu Mayor Lin Chih-chien apologized for the incident and said the festival was immediately suspended for the safety of participants. He concluded by saying that they would review the circumstances to prevent accidents like this from happening again.
