'Black Friday' and 'Cyber â??â??Monday' have become two of the biggest shopping events worldwide in recent years, but what is the difference between them?

Both of these days offer people the chance to make big savings on everything they can buy, but as 'Black Friday' ended, 'Cyber â??â??Monday' is your last chance to take advantage of discounts.

When is 'Cyber â??â??Monday'?

The annual shopping event always falls on the first Monday after Thanksgiving in the US, and so usually takes place in late November. In this case, today, November 30th.

Where did the term come from?

The day was conceived after research conducted in 2004, which found that Monday after Thanksgiving was one of the biggest days of the year for online shopping.

With that in mind, Ellen Davis and Scott Silverman decided to create a marketing campaign in which they would encourage consumers to shop online on the Monday after the national holiday, hence the term "Cyber â??â??Monday".

Where does 'Cyber â??â??Monday' differ from 'Black Friday'?

The difference between Black Friday and Cyber â??â??Monday is: the first was just for discounts you can find in the store, while the second was dedicated to online shopping.

However, in recent years the difference between the two has become blurred, as many 'Black Friday' purchases also become available online.
