It is not easy to discern whether a stone is a diamond or a free copy. However, there are several ways to recognize the changes. Daniel Anania, a jeweler from Sydney, has photographed two rings next to each other, one with a diamond stone (worth £ 6,000) and another with a zircon stone (worth £ 270). According to him, the things that will help you to distinguish these two stones from each other are: weight, clarity, color and markings.

1. The zircon is perfect and there are no indentations found in the diamond.

2. Shoot scratches easily.

3. If you put light on a zircon stone it will produce a rainbow of colors, while a diamond will not be so colorful.

4. Zircon is 2-fold heavier than diamond.

5. If you breathe in a zircon stone, the spirit will stay longer, than it would stay in a diamond.
